Recruitment Process

 Emergency Communication Dispatch Trainee positions

You may apply online only during open recruitment periods.  For more information, visit the City of Portland job site.   

To qualify, applicants must:

  •  Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  •  Be 18 years old at time of hire 

All applicants must submit:

  • Proof of net typing speed - 45 wpm (online typing test required)
  • Complete Application form
  • Complete Supplemental Questions  

Upon passing completed application form, supplemental questions, and typing speed, your name will be placed on an equally ranked eligible list. 

Candidates placed on the eligible list will be invited to a Pass/Fail CritiCall Test, a Pass/Fail Oral Interview and a Pass/Fail Background Investigation.  A conditional offer of employment is subject to the results of a background investigation, psychological assessment, a drug screen, and a vision/hearing test.
