Unleashed dogs chase and injure, or even kill, squirrels, ducks, and other wildlife. They compromise nesting areas and damage sensitive wildlife habitat when they are permitted by their owners to run unleashed. When dogs urinate in nesting and sensitive wildlife habitats, they "mark" the territory, which makes it undesirable or uninhabitable to the wildlife the areas are set aside for.
