The existing roadway on NE Sandy Boulevard between NE 47th Avenue and NE 82nd Avenue has deteriorated over the years and requires continuing maintenance. Road rehabilitation will involve grinding out the old existing asphalt pavement and replacing it with new from curb to curb. Other street work will include rebuilding curb ramps that do not comply with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards, modernizing existing traffic signal equipment and complying with stormwater quality requirements. Aging underground sewers will also be replaced in conjunction with the road work to minimize the need for future repairs under the new asphalt.
In 2011, the project team met with business and property owners to discuss proposed stormwater planters planned to be located on Sandy Blvd. Businesses were very concerned about their ability to keep existing parking on Sandy Blvd. We listened and proposed the alternative solution of moving the planters onto the side streets where possible. Some planters have also been removed from the original plan. The revised and final locations of the stormwater planters are now shown in the attached maps.
The Proposed Plan is broken down into three segments, Sheet 1 through 3. A map legend is shown in the bottom left hand corner of each map. This shows the graphic pattern for the type of pavement construction and a symbol for signal work shown on the map.
Project funding comes from the City's General Transportation Revenue Fund, which is comprised of parking revenue, state gas tax and utility license fees.
