Chapter 17.24 of City Code allows permits to be issued for temporary street closures. Temporary street closure permits are issued for the following reasons:
To facilitate construction, demolition or installation of facilities on public or private property;

To provide for events such as neighborhood block parties that involve the immediate neighbors and typically does not close more than one block, or a major street.

To provide for events such as neighborhood street fairs and community events that draw participants from more than a few block radius. There are two types of community event permits: Alcohol Allowed or Alcohol Prohibited.
