9009 SURVEY

9009-01   Aerial Photos and Maps

Series consists of copies of aerial photos and maps that are used for surveying projects. Records are copies of photos generally taken for other bureaus. Series is currently stored in bureau and includes series of photos taken for the Bureau of Environmental Services in 1972, 1974, 1981 and 1983. Series contains no negatives but may include mylar copies.

Retention: Retain as needed. Destruction of material is subject to archival review. Transfer outdated records to Records Center for final disposition.

9009-02   Bench Mark Books and Index

Records document elevations within city using city datum. Original benchmarks were established in 1896. Records include benchmarks, descriptions, elevations and locations. Computer index includes location, elevation, number, streets and quarter section.

9009-03   Survey Computer Records

Series is used to facilitate the survey field use of total stations and data collectors for existing projects. It contains all survey points with values and descriptions.

Retention: Until superseded

9009-04   County Road Records

Records are written descriptions of county roads. Series are copies of county reports and survey records on roads which have been assumed by the city.

9009-05   Microfilm Index

Series is used as an index to microfilm by quarter section. Record is a computer listing of all survey microfilm.

9009-06   Private Survey Records

Records are copies of surveys performed by private companies and on private property. Records are used as a reference in other survey projects and by crew to locate property corners when setting easements and establishing right-of-way. Records include maps, sketches, notes and reports.

9009-07   Quarter Section Maps - Microfiche

Series is used for reference in setting up survey projects. It consists of copies of quarter sections showing property, street improvements, sewer, water, topography and zoning and also includes county road maps and railroad maps.

9009-09   Street Grade Index

Record is used to access street grade records. Record is an index of street grade records and includes job number, street and estimate information.

9009-10   Survey Field Records

Series is created to document and establish easements and right-of-ways and is used to locate reference points used during street and utility projects. Records include traverse information, tie sheets, sketches, field notes, plats, interpretation of field notes, alignments, profiles of projects, plans, grade sheets, estimates, databank ties, and other miscellaneous documents used to establish grades, right-of-ways and easements.

9009-11   Survey Indexes

Series is used to help facilitate access to survey field records. Records are an index that contains job number, location, elevations, etc.

9009-12   Survey Project Records

Series is created to document specific survey projects undertaken by BTE staff. Records are the working documents used to document alignments, copies of notes, survey request and other information used by the staff to undertake a specific project.

Retention: 3 years after completion or last action

9009-13   Quarter Section Index Maps/Street Alignment

Series is used as an index of streets that have been surveyed and as a reference of previous work for use in future work. Records include a location reference of alignment notes and private surveys.
