Water Quality Compliance Manager
Portland Water Bureau, City of Portland
B.S. Mechanical Engineering, UC Santa Barbara
M.S. Environmental Engineering, UC Berkeley
I have been working for the Water Bureau for 21 years. I started off in the Engineering Service Group, designing and managing construction of water mains. For the last 15 years, I have been working in regulatory compliance and water quality. I currently manage a group of 20 scientists and engineers ensuring that the drinking water meets all state and federal regulations. The Water Quality Group manages several innovative programs such as the Bull Run Treatment Variance and the Lead Hazard Reduction Program, as well as routine water quality monitoring, regulatory reporting, unidirectional flushing and customer information and education around water quality issues.
Some of my particular interests include strategic hiring and building effective teams. I also enjoy program development and helping staff develop professionally. I am also interested in how to effectively communicate technical issues (particularly water quality).
