Cyreena Boston Ashby is a pubic affairs professional with ten years experience in the areas of government relations, public policy, campaigns, as well as nonprofit management. Working for agencies, elected officials, and in coalition with organizations in the Pacific Northwest, Cyreena has strategized for national and statewide electoral campaigns and ballot measures and conducted government relations in health care, small business and job development, and social equity.
In 2008 Cyreena ran for the Oregon House of Representatives and after that she worked for President Barack Obama as his Oregon Campaign Deputy and then for US Senator Jeff Merkley. She directed the Portland African American Leadership Forum which coordinated policy advocacy and leadership development for African Americans in Oregon from 2011-2014. Cyreena is well versed in nonprofit operations and management, with a great deal of experience in administrative, financial, and compliance matters. She is also experienced in collective impact and coalition formats.
Over the years Cyreena has served on boards of directors for organizations dedicated to LGBTQ equity, public education, and civic engagement. Cyreena is strongly interested in international affairs has lived on expatriate assignment in Asia, and traveled in delegation representing the United States to other nations. She is an alumna of Spelman College.
