Senior Engineer City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services July 2012 – Present -Plan, develop and evaluate the work of technicians and construction managers ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, safely and with minimal disruption to the public. Strive to provide a positive, diverse, high performing environment that services the public, management, city staff and bureaus and other stakeholders. Responsible for multiple projects worth millions of dollars. Also manage privately funded public works permit projects. Personally manage construction projects as the Owner's representative. Ensure plans, specifications and estimates are thoroughly vetted and reviewed during design and comply with City standards and policies. Capital Improvement Program Manager City of Portland Parks and Recreation
2007 – 2012 (5 years)  Managed Design and Construction of Portland’s Parks. Oversaw the design and construction of all Parks capital projects ranging from $100,000 to $12,000,000. Managed a staff that completed the project management, design and construction management of 40 to 55 million in projects annually. Knowledgeable about purchasing requirements, construction contracts, Professional Technical and Expert (PTE) contracts, specifications, bid packages, procurement, construction claims and project budgets and schedules. Implemented and monitored work plans, processes and procedures. Established, maintained and enforced best management practices and design, engineering and construction standards for the park facilities. Ultimate signature authority on requisitions and change orders and ensured appropriate ordinances were sent to council. Planned, organized, directed and evaluated eight to fifteen staff comprised of architects, landscape architects, engineers, project managers, construction managers and management assistants. Senior Engineer City of Portland Bureau of Transportation July 2004 – July 2007 (3 years 1 month)  Worked closely with BES and other city bureaus to develop green street standards for the construction of stormwater swales and planters in the public right of way. Familiar with the BES Stormwater Manual and the stormwater quality and retention requirements for new impervious areas. Worked hard to build facilities that meet manual requirements yet fit into urban design, the right of way, and existing conditions. Supervised, prepared, reviewed and approved design plans, estimates and specifications and oversee construction of complex transportation engineering public works projects. Analyzed and researched designs for a variety of civil and transportation capital construction projects while considering initial planning, stakeholder needs and future maintenance of the facilities. Performed and administered the most complex professional engineering work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience. Reviewed and interpreted drawings and specifications for compliance with City standards, specifications and codes, laws and Served as engineer-of-record, assist and direct project managers and successfully coordinate with other bureaus and jurisdictions on publicly funded design and construction projects.
