Tracy is a native Portlander and fourth generation Oregonian. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Lewis and Clark College and the University of Washington School of Law (with high honors). After law school Tracy spent several years in private practice, first in San Diego with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher (a large national law firm) then, after returning to Portland, with the Stoel Rives firm.
Tracy joined the City Attorney's Office in 1991. After leaving a few years later for another five year stint in private practice, Tracy rejoined the office in 2001. Her primary areas of expertise are constitutional law, complex civil litigation, civil rights and employment law. She is proud to have been appointed by the City Council in 2014 to lead the City Attorney's Office, which she considers to be the best public law office in the state.
Tracy and her husband Eric have five children between them. In her free time, Tracy loves to run, hike, do yoga, travel and watch soccer. She is also an active supporter of marriage equality, social justice issues and substance abuse recovery programs.
