The Urban Forestry Commission meeting will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016 and begins at 6:00 p.m., 1900 SW 4th Avenue, Room 2500B.
The Urban Forestry Commission will hear proposed amendments to Title 11, Trees, regarding tree preservation in development situations on Thursday, January 21, 2016. The hearing will begin at 6:00 p.m., 1900 SW 4th Avenue, Room 2500B.
Due to recent public concern about large trees being removed in development situations in Portland neighborhoods, amendments to Title 11, Trees, are proposed to strengthen regulations pertaining to tree preservation, especially preservation of large sized trees, in development situations. The proposed amendments aim to:
- Revise the mitigation requirement (payment into the Tree Planting and Preservation Fund) to be based on the size of the tree removed. Currently, the same mitigation is required for all trees removed regardless of size.
- Add a notification requirement when trees in the largest size category are proposed for removal.
There are currently two specific proposals being considered: Proposal A is dated November 3, 2015 and Proposal B is dated December 11, 2015. Comparison Table showing current code, Proposal A and Proposal B.
