1900 SW 4th Ave, Portland, OR 97201
August 28th, 2010: The future homeowners, as well as sponsors and other volunteers, worked throughout the morning to frame and raise the first walls of Rivergate Commons, a Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East project in North Portland.
Rivergate Commons has been awarded grant funds through the Portland Energy Efficient Home Pilot (PEEHP). The grant award will be used to upgrade the energy efficiency features of six row houses to exceed the energy efficiency requirements of the 2008 Oregon Energy Code by 15% and 30%.
The PEEHP is a program that awards grants to generate residential construction in the Portland Area that will provide the industry and public with information on the building methods and materials necessary to build cost effective energy efficient homes. The PEEHP is collaboration among the City of Portland's Bureau of Development Services (BDS) & Planning and Sustainability (BPS), Energy Trust of Oregon, the Homebuilders Association of Metropolitan Portland, National Association of Homebuilders, Northwest Natural Gas, Pacific Power and Portland General Electric.
