Portland Energy Efficient Home Pilot (PEEHP)

PEEHP

The Portland Energy Efficient Home Pilot (PEEHP) is a competitive grant program that supports energy efficient home construction that will provide the industry and public with practical information on the building methods and materials necessary to build cost effective, energy efficient homes;records of costs associated with constructing energy efficient homes; case studies, including those instances of added complexity related to new efficiency measures; and up to 20 energy efficient homes for sale in the City of Portland.

Grants will be awarded to builders or teams to substantially offset the costs of constructing two homes that perform above the energy efficiency level of the 2008 Oregon Energy Code standards. Builders or teams will be provided with technical assistance to determine what will be needed to achieve the required levels of energy efficiency.

The primary intent of the PEEHP is to understand the costs and feasibility of construction of one-and-two family houses to the 2008 Oregon Residential Specialty Code (hereafter referred to as the "Energy Code") in comparison with constructing one-and-two family homes that perform 15% and 30% more efficiently than the 2008 Oregon Energy Code standards as determined by energy modeling software.

The Portland Energy Efficient Home Pilot is sponsored by the City of Portland, Bureau of Development Services, Energy Trust of Oregon, Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland, the National Association of Home Builders, NW Natural, Pacific Power, and Portland General Electric.
