Vargas HousesThe BDS is excited to announce the completion of the first Living Smart homes. These architect designed narrow-lot homes were built by local builders Jack Wagnon of Prairie View Homes and Randall Palazzo of Palazzo Custom Homes.

Each home is built to energy efficient standards with Low-E windows, healthy-air HVAC systems, and is certified by Earth Advantage. For the addresses of Living Smart houses visit: http://www.livingsmartpdx.com/home/projects.asp

Well, the homes are almost bearable in the context of this photo, not shoved together amongst other homes; I can actually see open space on each side of the homes. However, having a corner house 'sell' 25 feet of its back yard so one can squeeze it between two establised houses of a different era is absured; it literally distroys the livability of both homes next to it, such as what was done on NE 35th Place and NE Webster St. And to allow another monster house to be built right next to one of these 'eco friendly' houses, blocking the ability of the south facing windows to ever see the light of day is absured, such as what happened on NE Alberta Ct. and NE 34th Ave. I talked to the 'lucky' owner of the new eco-friendly skinny house on NE 34th, asking him if he knew a monster two+ story house taller than his was going to be built right next to his, blocking any view, light, passive solar his house would get and he said he was told this ON THE DAY HIS HOUSE CLOSED! That is morally wrong!
