The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials’ (IAPMO) 78th Annual Education and Business Conference was held at the iconic Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, from Sept. 23-27, 2007.
This year, the Bureau of Development Services was represented by Jed Scheuermann, Facilities Permit Program Section Manager, Ken Carlson, Commercial Plumbing Section Manager, and Wes Cooke and McKenzie James, Senior Plumbing Inspectors. There were approximately 450 attendees representing the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. During the conference, 351 proposed changes to the plumbing and mechanical codes were deliberated by the delegates.
Jed Scheuermann reported that green building practices related to the plumbing and mechanical industry was a recurring theme in the educational seminars offered. And on a fun note, McKenzie James, who is a native of the Caribbean Islands, met a fellow delegate from the Caribbean who was born on same island as he was.
