Tet is the most celebrated time of the year in Vietnamese culture. It is rich with tradition and symbolic of the many customs and folklore in the history of Vietnam. Tet marks the beginning of a New Year on the lunar calendar, and the beginning of spring. The New Year begins on the first night of the first moon after the sun enters Aquarius.
The Bureau of Development Services will be one of the sponsors for the Tet event in Portland 2008 and we will have our own booth. The Tet event will be held at the Oregon Convention Center on Feb. 2 and 3. This is an event that brings the Vietnamese and local communities together both young and old to celebrate the New Year. This will be a two-day event filled with many traditional Vietnamese activities and performances.
