BDS presents at the Northwest Solar Expo

Solar ExpoStaff from BDS gave a presentation to solar installers today about permitting solar energy and hot water systems.  Over the past year BDS has worked with the Office of Sustainable Development and the solar industry to develop a streamlined, low cost permit review process for solar installations on existing buildings.  As part of this effort, BDS has created a Code Guide to outline these requirements.

Solar Expo 3Debbie Cleek, Staci Monroe and Jed Sampson presented an overview of the permitting process and review requirements.  In addition, Jed Scheuermann and Steve Ault described the FIR (Field Issuance Remodel) Program, which provides another permit review option for residential solar installers.

Solar ExpoCopies of the new Solar Code Guides should be on our website by May 1st, and a copy of the presentation can be found in the Lunch and Learn section of our web site.
