America will celebrate Building Safety Week from May 5 through 11. This year’s theme is “Building Safety: Where You Live, Work and Play.” The City of Portland’s Bureau of Development Services is participating this year. First observed in 1980, Building Safety Week annually raises public awareness about the importance of ensuring the safety of the structures in which all of us live, work, attend school, conduct business and play.
On May 10th, the Bureau of Development Services will be sponsoring outreach booths from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Mall 205, Jantzen Beach and Airport Way Home Depot Stores to commemorate Building Safety Week.
This outreach is part of a state-wide, 15 store outreach launched by the Oregon Building Officials Association (OBOA). The outreach events will stretch across Oregon and SW Washington and is aimed at educating the public about the value and safety of permitting and obtaining inspections for construction work, as well as helping customers with projects they are planning.
Plan to stop by our outreach booth at your local Home Depot store on May 10th between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to ask questions about your project!
