Animal Services Taskforce to Hold Public Forums in June to Solicit Feedback

Multnomah County, which currently provides animal services countywide, including for the City of Portland, can no longer fund the level of animal services that will keep pace with the growing expectations and demands for those services in Portland.

The Animal Services Taskforce is chartered by the Portland City Council and the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners to study and evaluate options; make recommendations for appropriate and viable service levels and service priorities; and identify sustainable funding methods to insure continued services into the future.

The Taskforce is holding a series of Public Forums to solicit feedback and how to fund those services from the public about animal services in Portland and Multnomah County. Please plan to attend one of the forums to have your feedback included in the Taskforce’s recommendations that will be submitted to the City Council and Board of County Commissioners by November 2008.

find a way to tie in awareness/education/fund raising through grade-school activities perhaps. animals touch children's hearts in a way nothing else can.

a cute puppy with a sign at saturday market.
incentives at ALL pet stores to increase awareness and/or funding?

get adidas involved?
other companies that have high income could give back to their communities this way.
