BDS at Good in the Neighbor ‘Hood’ Festival

This year BDS participated in the Good in the Neighbor ‘Hood event, Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29, 2008 for the first time.

GITH 1Danielle Solomon has been volunteering for the last 13 years and had asked the bureau’s participation in the event this year.  Our goal was to inform the community about BDS’ services and programs, and to develop a positive connection with the communities.  To provide public outreach and education and be a part of this yearly event.  Multicultural music and food festival brought neighbors and communities together to taste listen and enjoy the music and food.

GITH 2The festival featured the best entertainment in the Northwest, a variety of food vendors, an Information Village, and for the children a KidSpace arts and craft area.  There also was an Ethnic Marketplace where you could find goods, wears and jewelry.

GITH 3Proceeds from this event will support the NE coalition of Neighborhood’s community based programs to help empower low-income and at-risk residents.

Our staff attending the booth was Carol Richard, Nauman Quraishi, Jim Lambert, Tracy Spencer, Janette Silleck, McKenzie James and Russ Young.

Look for Good in the Neighbor 'Hood' next year. If you missed it this year to can come always join us on June 26, 27 and 28, 2009.

For more information please contact Carol Richard at 503-823-0810 or Danielle Solomon at 503-823-7811.
