(ORACCA) Oregon Chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America
Trade show and Training Expo - September 29, 2008
BDS had the opportunity to extend our hand to local contractors, supplies and manufactures serving the Portland area. The trade show outreach booth was staffed by Danielle Solomon, Karl Harn, Phil Burkhart, and 1& 2 Family Mechanical Senior Inspector Joe Botkin.
In the morning we met with contractors and their employees in an informal setting at our booth answering questions. After the luncheon, Phil, Karl and Joe were part of a round-table discussion for the contractors. The panel also included State of Oregon, Building Codes Division Mechanical Chief Mike Edward and Assistant Chief’s Homer Humelbaugh (Plumbing) and Grant Zadow (Electrical). Topics included some of the major code changes and specialty licensing requirements for contractors.
During the Luncheon Earth Advantage in connection with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, and the Oregon Energy Trust made a presentation of plans for Energy Efficient and Green Building promotions for 2009. OET is increasing a number of their financial incentives to improve energy efficiency and greenhouse gases.
In addition, the NEEA is working with property owners to install and study the use of ductless heat pumps, commonly referred to as "mini-splits", in the Northwest U.S.. We would encourage everyone to visit these fine organizations web sites to use these programs. ORACCA is also hosting training in the near future for contractors interested in installing mini-split systems.
