The Bureau of Development Services was invited by Executive Director Cheryl Roberts to partner with the African American Alliance for Homeownership organization to participate in our first African American Home Buying Fair at Emanuel Hospital Atrium. BDS provided information on “How to Research Property” and important questions to ask the City regarding permits and zoning before purchasing property.
This fair is designed to educate the community about home buying, financing and to answer any questions “First Time Buyers” may have regarding home buying. In addition to the fair, there are classes held for more specific information, two $1000 Homeownership grants awarded and other rewarding events.
This event was opened by AAAH Chair Bernie Foster, comments from Commissioner Nick Fish and Homebuyer Testimonials. The information provided by all of the vendors was very informative and delivered with great background music by Ocean 503 Productions and free ice cream from Umpqua Bank.
Thank you Inspectors McKenzie James and Russ Young for your excellent customer service and providing the community with information about BDS and it’s services.
