Converting a house to office use may only mean removing the brick chimney from the house, down to the level of the roof, and attaching the house to the foundation with ties.

But, if the house has previously been altered to reduce its lateral resistance (interior walls or large areas of floor removed, or large openings cut in the exterior walls), a full seismic analysis would be required.
