Bureau of Development Services engineers Eric Thomas and Lisa Buellesbach recently teamed up with Summa North at Meadow Park Middle School in Beaverton to help judge their Science Fair projects.
Summa North is a school designed for highly gifted students in grades 6-8. This school offers a very challenging curriculum in mathematics, science, humanities and languages that meets the needs of gifted children, while being sensitive to their developmental level.
The projects submitted by the students ranged from the different types of base isolation for buildings to the optimal blade angle on a wind turbine.
Many of the students showcased their intelligence along with their creativity. "It was a pleasure for us to share in the judging of this fun and exciting competition," says Lisa Buellesbach.
Sharing in this competition is not only exciting for us, but it gives us a chance to partner with communities and invest into our future, which are our youth. Thank you Toni West and Susan Duncan form Meadow Park for inviting BDS staff to participate. We are looking forward to next year.
