Proposed Zoning Code Amendment to Extend Expiration of Land Use Approvals

Design ReviewsIn recognition of the hard economic times being experienced by both homeowners and developers alike, the Bureaus of Development Services and Planning & Sustainability are working collaboratively to bring a proposal forward to the Planning Commission for a Zoning Code Amendment that would provide additional time before a Land Use Review expires.

The Planning Commission will consider the Code Amendment options at a hearing scheduled for March 24, 2009, at 7:00 pm (Planning Commission Notice). In the coming weeks, more information will be posted on the BDS website on the content of the Code Amendment. For additional information, please contact Douglas Hardy at (503) 823-7816, or

The fact that bds is considering extending the timeline is great news. We have a few stalled projects that are in the middle of landuse reveiw timelines that we fear are going to require us to restart the entitlement clock. Every little bit counts; extending the timeline so projects don't expire and can get in the ground faster when econimic recovery happens is a welcome ammendment.
