Bookmark and Share

The accessibility provisions in the 2010 OSSC have changed to comply with revised final regulations to Title II and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act published by the U.S. Department of Capitol HsJustice, and existing Oregon laws. The changes are primarily in OSSC Chapter 11 which contains the accessibility provisions, however the amendments also affect OSSC Chapters 9, 10, and 34.

The 2010 OSSC Chapter 11 titled “Accessibility” is deleted in its entirety and replaced with model code language from the 2009 International Building Code with Oregon specific amendments.

The code amendments were adopted by the State on November 1, 2011, and are in force beginning March 1, 2012. View amended code sections: Chapter 10 Egress (revised), Chapter 11 Accessibility (new), Section 3411 Accessibility For Existing Buildings (new), Section 907.5.2.3.3 Fire Alarms (revised), and Section 1007 Accessible Means of Egress (new). For more information, see Oregon Administrative Rule amendments.

The amended OSSC Chapter 11 references the specific construction requirements in the 2003 Edition of ANSI 117.1, Sections 101-106, 201-203, 301-309, 401-406.11, 406.13, 406.14, 501-506, 601-611, 701-708, 801-807, 901-904, and 1001-1005. Note that not all of the ANSI standards are adopted by Oregon.
