On Tuesday, June 4, 2013, Mayor Charlie Hales reassigned all City bureaus to Council Members. BDS was assigned to Commissioner Amanda Fritz. She is Commissioner of Public Utilities.
On Tuesday, June 11th, Commissioner Fritz meet with the bureau's Leadership Team to discuss her goals and ambitions for the bureau. She expressed her excitement to have BDS under her portfolio and stated that she and her staff will be reaching out to both staff and Leadership to assist her with understanding all that BDS does.
On Monday, June 17th, Commissioner Amanda Fritz attended the bureauwide Chat With the Director session to introduce herself and answer any questions from staff. Amanda has been impressed with BDS' resilience to remain a positive and productive bureau during the recession. She is dedicated to helping BDS build back up and looks forward to being a BDS "advocate and champion".
She served seven years on the Portland Planning Commission and has been a long time neighborhood advocate. Equity is a passion and she believes that everyone needs to feel they have received fair share. She is committed to seeing how we can expand our opportunity in providing service in every part of the city.
Chief of Staff
Her Chief of Staff is Tom Bizeau. In the 1990s, for seven years he was an associate and senior planner in the City of Portland. He is a good resource if you need immediate assistance.
Our liaison is Dora Perry. Dora has a passion for social justice and community activism. Dora completed graduate studies in Urban Planning at Portland State University, with concentration in Housing and Community Development. She is a former Commissioner of the Oregon Commission on Black Affairs, past President of the African Women’s Coalition, and past Vice President of the Center for Intercultural Organizing.
