Saturday, April 26, 2014 was National Rebuild Day, organized by Rebuilding Together. Over 200 cities across the country participate in this annual event. For 24 years the Portland chapter has been providing home repair to people who cannot physically of financially complete needed repairs to their homes themselves. BDS staffers Jacob Carringer, Housing Inspector in the Enforcement Section and Tom Brougham, Development Services Technician II in the Field Issuance Remodel Program spent the day performing tasks ranging from yard maintenance to home repair.
BDS Enforcement Program partners with Rebuilding Together by referring home owners that may meet the organizations criteria (property must be owner occupied, both financially and physically unable to complete repairs, and property is in Portland) to get assistance in property maintenance and repairs to bring the property into compliance. Rebuilding Together gives BDS enforcement referrals high priority in receiving their assistance.
