The Inspection Services Division is pleased to share some great news. Effective Thursday, January 14, 2016, we are reinstituting our Chief Electrical Inspector and Chief Plumbing Inspector assignments!
Following a comprehensive review of resumes submitted by our internal Senior A-Level Plumbing and Electrical Inspectors interested in the Chief Inspector assignments, Brett Welland (pictured on the left) has been assigned the duties of Chief Electrical Inspector and McKenzie James (pictured on the right) has been assigned the duties of Chief Plumbing Inspector.
McKenzie and Brett were selected for the Chief Inspector assignments primarily for their extensive Journey-Level inspection and plan review experience respective to their trades. Both demonstrate considerable detailed knowledge of local, state and national codes along with vast professional plan review experience and the ability to communicate technical code information to a wide array of customers and business partners, both internal and external, at the Bureau of Development Services (BDS).
In their day to day work as Chief Inspectors, McKenzie and Brett will predominantly support BDS by providing expert plumbing and electrical code compliance review and assessment, serving as technical code experts for staff and customers in the Development Services Center (DSC) and BDS Plumbing and Electrical Inspectors, and providing lead technical plumbing and electrical plan review services. They will also serve as code experts for plumbing and electrical code appeals boards, and represent BDS as technical experts at local, regional and state code policy and trades associations and Chief Inspector meetings. They will work closely with our BDS Training and Workforce Development Team as well to develop and implement internal training for all BDS Plumbing and Electrical Inspectors and Plan Reviewers.
To ensure BDS Chief Inspector services are readily available, when McKenzie or Brett are out of the office or have time off, alternates will be appointed, as deemed necessary, from the group of A-Level Senior Inspectors who expressed interest and submitted resumes for the Chief Inspector assignments.
