In late November 2015, the BDS Organizational Assessment Report was delivered to us by the Coraggio Group, a Portland-based consulting firm. The report reflects several months of work by the consultants in assessing the bureau’s health, culture, and organizational structure. The assessment was focused on identifying opportunities to improve service to our customers and the community and create a more healthy and productive workplace.
The assessment, along with a customer survey, employee workplace survey, and other initiatives and activities, is part of our ongoing organizational improvement work after the significant reductions and then expansion we’ve experienced over the last few years.
Recently staff workgroups met to identify linkages between the assessment and our upcoming Strategic Plan, and to develop action plans for the specific areas identified in the assessment, including:
- Employee Evaluations
- Quality Control
At the June BDS Leadership Team meeting, a planning tool was presented to assist bureau sections develop achievable goals related to the specific assessment areas over the upcoming year. Further discussion will occur with the Bureau Assessment Advisory Group in July to develop a rollout and adoption plan to focus bureau efforts in these areas that are tailored to the needs of each group.
Consultants from the Coraggio Group will also be working with BDS Equity Program staff and the BDS Equity Committee to coordinate follow-up on equity issues and integration with the bureau’s Equity Plan.
