Portland Sewer Rates Fiscal Year 2013-2014

The average single family residential monthly bill for sewer and stormwater services will increase 5.32% on July 1, 2013. The estimated average single family residential monthly sewer bill will go from the current average of $59.57 to $62.74, an increase of $3.17 per month. The city adjusts sewer rates annually on July 1.

Environmental Services provides Portland residents and businesses with wastewater and stormwater collection and treatment, sewer installation and maintenance, drainage services, and watershed restoration. Sewer rates are based on the cost of providing service to residential, non-residential, commercial, industrial and institutional customers. Sewer bills pay for:

• maintaining and operating the sewer system
• constructing wastewater collection and treatment facilities
• protecting the sewer system from damage
• improving water quality in rivers, streams and groundwater
• enhancing watershed health
• paying debt service on bonds
