About Watershed Services

Watershed Services works to protect and improve watershed health by:

  • Planning and implementing natural resource restoration and green infrastructure projects and programs
  • Coordinating with other city bureaus and providing watershed science expertise to citywide plans and public works projects
  • Monitoring and evaluating watershed conditions and project effectiveness
  • Integrating comprehensive watershed planning with stormwater and sewer system plans to improve water quality and overall watershed health
  • Providing technical assistance and grants to promote sustainable development practices and community watershed restoration
  • Ensuring the city’s compliance with state and federal fish and wildlife regulations and other environmental regulations and policies
  • Supporting community stewardship of watersheds and green infrastructure

We work closely with other Environmental Services groups, other city bureaus, community organizations and state, federal and regional partners to achieve cleaner rivers and streams in Portland.

Heartbleed Security Notice

A serious security vulnerability known as "Heartbleed" was recently discovered in OpenSSL, a popular software library commonly used by many websites on the internet to encrypt communication between a user's computer and a web server.

PortlandOregon.gov is NOT affected by this vulnerability as it does not use the OpenSSL software library. Please rest assured we are dedicated to protecting your security on this website.
