Marsicek Roberts Residence

Jennifer Marsicek and Jason Roberts purchased their home in 1998 and promptly began the remodel process slowly learning and working our way through the house room by room. While the home was improving as a whole they had always been somewhat unhappy about its connection to the backyard from the main living spaces on the first floor and the poor functional layout of the kitchen, and they began to think about an addition.

Design began in January of 2008 and included 529 sf (basement and first floor total) to the 1907 home. The addition included a new kitchen reoriented to the backyard with plenty of windows and direct access to a new deck and the yard. Unfortunately it also took the place of existing landscaped area and view to that area from a second floor bedroom, so the solution was to replace as much of that as possible with planted ecoroof while also providing a garden view. The ecoroof was installed from April - August, 2009.

Jay and Jen,
WOW! This is really a neat project. Good for you both. It was so much fun watching the videos and reading the project report. I've circulated it all over Wyoming.
Congrads to you for doing this! Jen you are way cute running around in the videos.

Hi Jason & Jen,

I'm Candi's cousin in Yorba Linda, CA. Incredible roof! I love this. I've seen a "living roof" at the Museum of Science in San Francisco! You're on your way! Great job! Keep us posted.

Maureen
