Ecoroof Portland - Program Overview (2 of 4)

We're very lucky to have two special guest speakers for Ecoroof Portland. Ed Snodgrass and Linda Velazquez will provide the keynote addresses for Friday and Saturday. Below are descriptions of their presentations.

Ecosystem Services: How Ecoroof Contribute to Sustainable Cities

Ed Snodgrass, Emory Knoll Farms

Friday, March 12 - 12:00 p.m.

Ed Snodgrass is a horticultural consultant and the owner and operator of Emory Knoll Farms, a perennial nursery that specializes in plants for green roofs and provides guidance on all aspects of green roof creation. The nursery currently stocks more than 100 varieties of green roof plants and more than 173,490 square feet of planted roofs. Ed works with a wide range of roofing systems, soil mixes, climates, and manufacturers and designers.

Ed will talk about how ecoroofs contribute to what are called 'ecosystem services' - these are benefits that people receive from natural systems and processes. Ecoroofs are being used more and more to contribute to ecosystem services in urban areas. Ed will focus on how we're now relying on the technology of plants and soil to protect the environment, economy, and equity in cities.

Hot Trends in Greenroof Design

Linda Velazquez, Greenroofs.com

Linda will provide a highlight reel of really cool, innovative and important greenroof projects. This will include her favorite projects over the years plus a few notable new projects on the boards. Anyone interested in the newest trends in greenroof design won't want to miss Linda's fun, fast-paced presentation.
