Green Street Benefits

Construction of the Tibbetts-Harrison project is complete. Environmental Services constructed 68 green street facilities to collect stormwater runoff and allow water to soak into the ground as soil and vegetation filter pollutants.

Green streets also help calm traffic, improve pedestrian safety, and add green space to neighborhoods. Portland has hundreds of green streets that effectively manage stormwater and alleviate basement flooding, reduce combined sewer overflows to the Willamette River, and improve neighborhood aesthetics.
