Big Pipe Portal

Artists from the architecture and design firm rhiza A+D created the "Big Pipe Portal" from materials used in constructing Portland's East Side Big Pipe.

The arch is installed over a section of the Willamette Greenway Trail next to the Swan Island CSO Pump Station as part of the city's Percent for Art Program.

In 2011, the pump station will connect with the 6-mile, 22-foot diameter East Side Big Pipe to control combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to the Willamette River. The West Side Big Pipe connected to the pump station in 2006.
