Request a Storm Sewer Discharge

Questions Concerning Discharges to the Storm Sewer System?

Regulations regarding discharges to the storm sewer system can be complex and confusing. In addition to stormwater, there are a significant number of non stormwater discharges that can enter the storm sewer system. Whereas some of these are allowed, some are not and others may require authorization from the City and implementation of Best Management Practices. These approvals are generally given as a Letter of Authorization or through the Batch Discharge process. Types of discharges may include, but are not limited to, groundwater including those from construction activities, swimming pools, and wash water.

If you have a question regarding regulatory requirements for discharges to the storm sewer system, or want to know how to safely dispose of stormwater or other water and/or wastewater to the storm or sanitary sewer system, you can call the Source Control Division at 503-823-5320 for information and authorization.
