East Portland Sunday Parkways Gets Fishy (in a good way)!

When Sunday Parkways comes to East Portland on September 30th a “fishy” contingent will be on hand to celebrate the near completion of a floodplain restoration project on Foster Road, next to the Springwater Corridor Trail.

Lots of family-friendly activities will highlight the natural wonders of Portland’s only free-flowing, salmon-bearing stream. Kids can make fishy helmet hats, run an obstacle course, “fish” for prizes and see the Audubon’s birds of prey.

Site tours of the East Lents Floodplain Restoration Project will highlight the stream bank, wetland and floodplain restoration. The project will reduce flooding on Foster Road (which used to happen every other year), improve water quality in Johnson Creek and enhance habitat for salmon, trout and other native species.
