SW Terwilliger Boulevard Sewer Project

Sign up for email updatesConstruction is underway on an Environmental Services project to install 7,600 feet of eight-inch gravity sewer in SW Terwilliger Boulevard from SW Northgate Avenue to Highway 43. The new sewer will connect to the 30-inch Tryon Interceptor sewer, which carries sewage to the Tryon Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Lake Oswego. This improvement to Portland’s wastewater collection system will help protect water quality, public health, and the environment.

Update 12/02/2016:

  • SW Terwilliger will close SW Terwilliger between Highway 43 and SW Castleridge beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5. The closure will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for up to eight months.
  • Choose an alternate route if you can. Stick to major arterial roads and avoid neighborhood streets as much as possible.
  • The first phase of construction will begin on SW Terwilliger west of the Highway 43 intersection. The work taking place on the highway will be scheduled at a later date, likely after the New Year.

Traffic Restrictions

Construction will close SW Terwilliger for up to eight months from Highway 43 to the Iron Mountain Trailhead (south of SW Castleridge Lane). Due to narrow roads and lack of shoulders, the road is being closed to safely allow enough space for open trench construction. The closure will also provide a secure staging for large equipment and materials, off neighborhood streets where possible to allow for resident parking.
