Stormwater Curriculum Video with PSU and Mount Tabor Middle School

New video features partnership to educate Portland middle school students about stormwater from the Cascades to the Oregon Coast

Portland State University (PSU) School of the Environment has developed the Cascades to Coast video series to feature their work with Portland area schools. The below video is about the development of new curriculum for middle schoolers that's focused on stormwater and the role of soils and plants. A group of PSU graduate students is working with a science class at Mt. Tabor Middle School to test a combination of classroom, lab, and field experiments. The idea is to develop a manual that can be used by other teachers.

Healthy watersheds are important for everyone, and this partnership is a great example of how collaboration can develop opportunities to learn about this important work. In 2006-2007, Environmental Services worked with Portland Public Schools to design and construct the Mount Tabor Rain Garden, and has long supported the development of watershed-based curriculum in local school districts. Congratulations to the students and staff for the great work!
