SE Bybee and Glenwood Culvert Replacement

Bybee-Glenwood Culvert Replacement project mapEnvironmental Services and the Portland Bureau of Transportation are designing a project to replace Crystal Springs Creek culverts at SE Glenwood Street and SE Bybee Boulevard.

Projects replacing seven of the nine Crystal Springs Creek culverts that impeded fish passage are complete. The Glenwood Street and Bybee Boulevard culverts are the final two culverts that restrict fish passage, especially for juvenile salmon and trout species. Removing barriers to fish passage and enhancing fish habitat aids Portland's endangered species recovery efforts.

Crystal Springs Creek's cold water and consistent flow create ideal habitat for steelhead trout and Chinook and coho salmon.

Grants from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District will help fund the project. Construction is planned for summer 2015.
