Environmental Services and the Oregon Department of Transportation are designing a stormwater management facility at the intersection of Interstate-5, SW Barbur Boulevard and SW 26th Avenue to protect water quality in Tryon Creek. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014.
Runoff from these roads currently drains directly to Tryon Creek. Stormwater carries pollutants to the creek and high runoff volume and velocities erode stream banks. The vegetated stormwater facility will collect runoff and allow pollutants to settle out before the water enters the creek.
