Construction started last week to insteall the underground hydraulic surge tank at the Fanno Pump Station and should be completed by mid-June. The surge tank will attach to the Fanno pressure sewer and will absorb pressure in the line when the city activates the pump station. The surge tank will protect the pressure sewer and help prevent any further pressure line leaks.
The contractor is scheduled to cut into the force main in the Fanno Pump Station parking lot to install a connection today. There is a possibility that sewer odors may be present in that area over the next few days due to the the force main not being operated recently and increased temperatures in the weather.
On another note, there were a few complaints last week regarding the fumes from the generator pumping groundwater from the trench at one of the connections next to the trail. That generator has since been moved away from the trail area and and is now using electricity from the pump station.
