Multnomah Village is in the headwaters of both Tryon and Vermont creeks. Pavement and buildings prevent rain from soaking into the ground and cause stormwater runoff to flow quickly to streams, collecting pollutants and sediment on the way and degrading aquatic habitat.
The city constructed green street facilities to collect stormwater. Soil and vegetation in the facilities filter pollutants.
Green street facilities are located on SW Troy, at the Multnomah Arts Center, Lucky Lab, and along SW Capitol Highway. Altogether, these facilities treat over 800,000 gallons of stormwater runoff annually.
