September 20th - 23rd mark the Johnson Creek Watershed Council’s 2013 Johnson Creek Days with lots of fun activities to enjoy and learn about Johnson Creek and its watershed.
Friday evening kicks off the weekend with a Friday evening Science Talk at 4th Street Brewing in Gresham, with Robin Jenkins piloting a virtual flyover of the creek.
Saturday morning features a 4-6 mile Johnson Creek Fun Run. A Children's Discovery Carnival takes place at Lents Park in the afternoon. Look for the Environmental Science booth with a game about the salmon life cycle and fish hats for kids to decorate.
Sunday starts with a Bike Bonanza starting at the Johnson Creek Watershed Council headquarters, traveling along the Springwater Corridor Trail and ending, strategically, at Cartlandia, Portland’s bike-friendly food cart pod on SE 82nd Avenue. The weekend’s festivities wrap up with an Edible Weed Walk in Pleasant Valley led by herbalist Randi Embree.
With so many ways to get out and enjoy Johnson Creek, the hard part will be deciding what to do!
