Environmental Services is planning to construct a green street facility on SW Huber Street near Quail Post Road to protect water quality in local streams and reduce flooding problems.
Right now, rain that falls on SW Huber flows downhill to a catch basin that drains to Quail Creek, which flows into Tryon Creek. The catch basin is too small to handle heavy stormwater flow and clogs easily with leaves and other debris. This causes stormwater to pool, flow over the curb and cause flooding problems for downstream property owners.
The fast-flowing stormwater also carries pollution from SW Huber Street to Quail and Tryon creeks and erodes stream beds and banks.
This project will construct a vegetated green street facility on SW Huber that will collect and slow stormwater runoff. Stormwater will flow into the green street and
Construction is scheduled for summer 2014.
