Environmental Services – your sewer and stormwater service provider – is designing a project to replace and upsize about 270 feet of public sewer pipes on SE Division Place between SE 6th and SE 7th avenues that are between 95 and 106 years old and failing due to age. This project will increase sewer capacity and reduce the risks of street flooding and sewage releases to buildings and streets.
The work will include replacing storm drains, manholes, and service laterals that connect properties from the curb to the public sewer in the street.
The map shows the location of pipes Environmental Services will replace in 2015. Open trench excavation will occur on SE Division Place between SE 6th and SE 7th avenues and in both intersections. There will be construction signs, traffic controls, on-street parking removal, and equipment storage in the construction area. Watch for updates as planning for construction continues.
Design for this sewer repair project is underway and is expected to continue through October 2014. Survey crews have been in the area collecting information and identifying issues that might affect construction, such as the locations of overhead or underground utilities and soil conditions.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2015 and last for about five months. When the city hires a contractor, we will provide a more exact schedule.
