Combined Sewer System

This subwatershed is entirely served by combined sewers, although a few small areas have been partially separated with street inlets draining to to UICs. Downspouts have been disconnected and stormwater drirected to simple landscape infiltration systems where possible.

The combined sewage from the western half of the subwatershed flows into 78-inch Insley trunkline and then north into Southwest Interceptor. Three contributing pipes feed into this trunk; the 48-inch Harold trunk, the 39-inch Lambert trunk and the 36-inch Bybee trunk. During storm events, combined sewage exceeding the capacity of the system overflows the diversion structures and enters the Willamette River via 72-inch outfall No. 28. Overflows from Sellwood are discharged through Outfalls 26A, 26 and 27.
