The Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (OSAOHN) was founded in 1974. It is a professional organization of nurses engaged in the specialty field of occupational health. Membership is composed of registered nurses from Oregon and Southwest Washington. Carolyn Williams has been President Elect and is now the association President.  She attended to national convention were the Chapter accepted the  AAOHN Education Award for Best One-Day Offering. The program was "Transforming Oregon's Medical Care System: Impacts in Occupational Health." It included information on the Affordable Care Act and Oregon’s Community Care Organization model.

Melissa Schnell, Workers' Compensation Disability Claims Analyst, has been elected President of the Workers' Compensation Claims Association (WCCA) Board

Congratulations to City Risker Melissa Schnell!


She has been elected President of the Workers' Compensation Claims Association (WCCA) Board for 2014. The WCCA is a professional organization whose mission is to provide education and training on issues relevant to Workers' Compensation Claims professionals.  Melissa has been working with City Risk since 2008 and is currently the Disability Claims Analyst.

Points of Distribution (POD) in a Public Health Emergency

On May 23, 2013, the City participated in a region-wide simulation of a bioterrorism attack - a release of Anthrax. The OMF Safety Committee and the PBOT Parking Enforcement Safety Committee teamed up to activate a POD in the Portland Building

In the event of a bioterrorism attack The City of Portland is prepared

to open a Point of Distribution (POD)

to dispense medical counter measures to City Employees.

Employees will be given enough medication for themselves and their families.
