Influenza cases in Oregon began to rise sharply during the last week of 2013. The Oregon Public Health Division now considers flu to be widespread in Oregon. Health professionals are concerned because the prominent Type A virus this year is H1N1. This is the virus that triggered worldwide alerts as "Swine Flu" in 2009.
Flu is a serious illness. Flu vaccine is the best protection for you and those with whom you have close contact at home and work.
The City Risk Occupational Health Program can no longer provide on site flu vaccination. The Bureau of Human Resources - Benefits has made flu shots available through your city-provided health benefits. Go to the BHR-Benefits web page to learn more about how to get this season's flu vaccine.
