Portland’s Central City has some of the most iconic views in the region. These views have been designated over the past 30 years through the development of the 1983 Terwilliger Parkway Corridor Plan, 1988 Willamette Greenway Plan and the 1991 Scenic Resources Protection Plan, among other plans. This is the first update to these view inventories.
The Scenic Resources Inventory Update is a project to document the characteristics of viewpoints and view corridors within and of Portland’s Central City. Staff are starting with the existing inventory, which includes roughly 135 viewpoints and view corridors (see map). During the month of July, we are asking the public to nominate new views to be included in the inventory. You can nominate a new view through this form.
The Scenic Resources Inventory Update is being done as part of the Central City 2035 (CC2035) project. In the fall of 2014, views included in the Scenic Resources Inventory Update will be evaluated and ranked. The results of the inventory and evaluation will inform CC2035 discussions about protecting and maintaining significant views.
